Welcome to APLAS 2005, the Third Asian Symposium on Programming Languages and Systems!

Program

The APLAS 2005 event will  start in November 2 with two tutorial talks (see Program).

Venue


APLAS 2005 takes place in the Advanced Research Laboratory B(総合研究棟 B)  of University of Tsukuba, Japan.

How to reach Tsukuba

Tsukuba City is located in the southwestern part of Ibaraki Prefecture, about 50km northeast of Tokyo and about 40km northwest of the Narita International Airport (see map).

How to reach the site of the symposium

From bus terminal 1 of Tsukuba Center (see photo of bus terminal), take a bus to University Center (筑波大学中央).
There are 3 bus routes from Tsukuba Center Terminal 1 to the conference site:
  1. Tsukuba daigaku Chuo.
  2. Tsukuba daigaku junkan (Migi Mawari).
  3. Tsukuba daigaku junkan (Hidari Mawari).

If you take bus route 1 or 2:
If you take bus route 3 (i.e., Tsukuba daigaku junkan Hidari Mawari), then you have 2 alternatives:

Access map. Click the map and try Flat map. Search for Engineering Institutes (工学系学系) and click Sougoukennkyuutou B (総合研究棟 B) is in the square 4J of the enlarged map.

How to reach the  site of the symposium from the Tsukuba Kenshu Center. There are 2 possibilities:

  1. Walk directly to the conference site. The walk takes approx. 20 minutes.
  2. Take the bus from bus stop Oikoshi Shukusha Higashi (5-10 minutes walk, see map) and take the bus Tsukuba Daigaku Junkan (Hidari Mawari). Get off at the bus stop Daigaku koen and follow the signs which will indicate the direction to the conference site.

Registration Desk


The registration desk of APLAS 2005 will be in room B0112 on the first floor of the conference site.

You can pick up the conference proceedings or register on-site during the following times:
    Nov. 2 (Wednesday) from 12:00 to 16:30
    Nov.3 (Thursday) from 8:00 to 16:30
    Nov. 4 (Friday) from 8:00 to 12:00.

The fee for on-site registration is 20000 JPY for studennts and 30000 JPY for regular participants.

Curent rates are about 115 JPY for 1 USD and 139.5 JPY for 1 Euro.

Reception

The reception will take place on in Room B0112 on Nov. 2, 2005 from 18:00 to 20:00.
The reception is free of charge and everybody is welcome!

Accomodation


The online hotel reservation system has been closed.
However, you can still get room reservations from the Japan Travel Bureau via email requests from tsuchiura_4@jtb.jp.
Don't forget to mention in the email your participation at the APLAS 2005 event.
 
There are a wide range of international hotels in Tsukuba from which you can choose one that best suits your needs.

For the banquet, we have chosen a  Japanese traditional restaurant. The banquet is included in the general registration fee, and is not included in the student registration fee.

Visas and Documents


Whether or not a visa is necessary in order to enter Japan varies by nationality. For details, please refer to the "Guide to Japanese Visas" Section II, "Exemption of Visas." For particular details, please contact your nearest Japanese diplomatic mission directly.
